Where BBC Waterloo Road is filmed and new school - all the locations as series 14 returns

Hit BBC drama Waterloo Road is back for series 14 this week - with a brand new school and headteacher welcoming in the new term. Stockport comedian and TV star Jason Manford joins the show as new headteacher Steve Savage.

We join the action with Waterloo Road enjoying its new academy status - and a brand new building. Ever since the show had its BBC reboot in 2022, the school setting had been based at the former St Ambrose Barlow school building in Swinton.

But for the new 14th series viewers can expect to see a whole host of brand new locations, with only one remaining the same from previous shows. Viewers in Greater Manchester will also spot a host of familiar locations - as the series was entirely filmed here.

Locations manager Jonny Cope spoke to the M.E.N. about the locations used. And from the opening moments of the new series, you can expect to see Manchester city centre looming large.

Bosses have used a former Manchester College building in the city centre as the setting for the show, with the majority of the drama centring around there.

Production staff have been able to repurpose the empty building to create the fictional Waterloo Road school and its vivid portrayal of the dramas of the students and their teachers.

Jonny says: "We have been able to use an old Manchester college site after they moved their students to a different campus. The college itself has been great as we've also been able to use some of their other campus sites for other locations in the series.

"We've made some changes inside, some of the old classrooms have been used for dressing rooms, and costume spaces. But pretty much every room in the building is
