Where are Emmerdale's Barton brothers now? ITV soap family revisited with Emma 'return'

Emmerdale has witnessed numerous family arrivals in the village with some still thriving while others have moved on to pastures new.

One such family was the Barton clan, consisting of father James (Bill Ward), mother Emma (Gillian Kearney), and their sons - Ross (Michael Parr), Pete (Anthony Quinlan) and Finn (Joe Gill). However, viewers will remember that the trio of brothers gained an additional sibling when it was disclosed that Adam Barton's (Adam Thomas), whose mother is Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), biological father was actually James, not his brother John (James Thornton) as he had previously believed.

The Barton brothers, along with parents James and Emma, were embroiled in some of the ITV soap's most captivating plots, including the Hotten Bypass crash, a distressing acid attack, and a murder cover-up. Fans will remember that James met his end in 2016 after a deranged Emma held him captive due to her jealousy over Moira.

James tried to flee from her evil grasp but Emma found him and pushed him off a bridge, resulting in a car pile-up involving several villagers. James later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. However, Emma met her end in 2017 after accidentally causing the death of her son, Finn. She was found at the Hotten Viaduct, where it was later disclosed that Moira had pushed her to her demise, reports the Mirror.

Later that year, in a bid to save his mother, who had recently welcomed her son Isaac Dingle, Adam confessed to Emma's murder. But instead of facing a prison stint, Adam instead decided to go on the run as he fled the village never to be seen again.
