When does the Masters 2022 start? Dates, field, odds and how to watch on TV

The Masters tournament from Augusta National is the traditional opener to a summer of golf majors and its famed green jacket is coveted by all who set foot on the iconic course.

Some of the most memorable moments in the sport have taken place surrounded by the pleasant greenery in the southern US state of Georgia.

This year, Hideki Matsuyama will be hoping to retain the green jacket after finishing -10 at the 2021 tournament to claim his first major title. British stars such as Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Paul Casey and Lee Westwood will all be in attendance along with Ireland's Rory McIlroy while Ian Poulter failed to qualify.

Golfing legend and 2019 champion Tiger Woods has dropped hints about his attendance following his recovery from a car crash which could have ended his career. It is set to be a thrilling tournament, and with 23 different winners in the last 25 majors it could be a surprising name who will be wearing the famous green jacket.

The tournament starts on Thursday April 7th, running until Sunday April 10th and comes from Augusta, Georgia in the United States.

There are lots of names set to compete in the tournament including Southport's Tommy Fleetwood.

Here is the current list of invitees and it is subject to change once declarations are made:

As ever, the favourites list is dominated by US stars but there are some European names in the mix with Spain's World Number One Jon Rahm heading up the betting field.

Rory McIlroy is a strong contender at 14/1 while Tiger Woods is currently 40/1 and Southport's Tommy Fleetwood is 50/1 currently.
