Whelan questions Derry inclusion of Glen pair Doherty and Glass

Perhaps more notable than Derry's win over Limerick in their Allianz League Division 2 encounter at the weekend was the team sheet.

Rory Gallagher’s men began their quest for promotion in a positive manner, easing to a 12-point victory at Owenbeg, with the visitors limited to just four points in the whole game.

But it was the inclusion of Conor Glass and Ethan Doherty, six days on from their All-Ireland club final defeat to Kilmacud Crokes - Conleth McGuckian was also named to start but did not feature on the night – that was a major talking point.

While Glen wait to learn their fate with the CCCC following an objection to their defeat at Croke Park, Derry manager Rory Gallagher decided to select Glass and Doherty.

The hearing is to take place at 7pm this evening, with a verdict expected in the next 24 hours, but possibly as early as tonight.
