WhatsApp down: latest updates as messaging service crashes

Messaging service WhatsApp has gone down with users unable to send messages. The outage began shortly before 8.30am on Tuesday morning.

It is not known how long the outage will last. Website DownDetector showed a massive spike in people reporting the app, owned by Meta, not working for them on Tuesday morning.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the UK and around the world, and is estimated to have more than two billion active users globally.
