What Paul Scholes thinks Man United ace Marcus Rashford has added to his game that he 'hasn't done' before

Paul Scholes hailed Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for the manner in which he netted his first goal during Thursday night's enthralling 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League.

The England international, who played no part in United's opening two Europa League group matches against Real Sociedad and Sheriff Tiraspol last month, stepped off the bench at half-time to score twice and grab an assist, inspiring Erik ten Hag's side to a much-needed win. United were 1-0 down at half-time and Ten Hag opted to make a double change, bringing Luke Shaw and Rashford on in place of Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.

Rashford quickly repaid his manager's faith, bringing United back level just eight minutes into the second period. He latched onto Bruno Fernandes' exquisite pass, turned and bent home a lovely, composed effort from the edge of the penalty area.

The forward used Cristiano Ronaldo's outside run as a decoy, opened his body up and bent his effort into the far corner. It was a class finish and one that Scholes felt showed a different side to his finishing technique.

"It's a great pass," Scholes told BT Sport, reflecting on Fernandes' brilliant pass. "I'm not sure what he's [Fernandes] doing so deep but it's a fantastic pass and we know he is capable of that.

"As Owen [Hargreaves] said, Marcus was as lively as we've seen him. It actually wasn't a great first touch - he ends up coming back.

"Cristiano [Ronaldo] makes a brilliant run for him which creates the space. Too often when you see Marcus get into that position he tries to burst the ball, burst the net.
