What Erik ten Hag told Manchester United youngsters after Carabao Cup final

Erik ten Hag told Manchester United's youngsters to relish the experience of celebrating a major trophy with the club following the Carabao Cup win at the weekend.

United brought their trophy drought to an end as it ticked towards six years without any silverware with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle at Wembley.

After the match Ten Hag was seen speaking with a number of United's most promising youngsters, who had been invited to celebrate the win despite having no involvement in the final.

It was a moment they will never forget, and the United manager hopes it can spur the next generation on to future success with the club.

Asked what his message to the youngsters was, he told club media: “First of all, they have taken part in it because they deserve to be there but also the message is that they get the experience, how it is, and in the previous question you asked me, I said about sacrificing and suffering.

"When you celebrate, you forget everything. That is the best feeling you can have so they have to get in that attitude to collect trophies, to be in that winning approach, you have to do a lot, invest a lot, give everything, every day, to collect that.”

The previous question that Ten Hag alludes to was a tribute to Casemiro who followed up his Man of the Match display in the final by being named in the FIFPro Team of the Year a day later.
