What Erik ten Hag has said on future as possible Ralf Rangnick replacement at Manchester United

Manchester United's search for a new manager is now well underway.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick will move into a consultancy role at the end of the season and United will appoint a permanent replacement. There are numerous names that are being considered but it's understood Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are the two leading candidates. Both managers are currently in work at Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax respectively.

United supporters will be more than familiar with Pochettino after his five-year spell at Tottenham, whereas Ten Hag has exclusively had his success in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands. Ten Hag has won admirers at United for the manner in which he has inspired Ajax to play football, but what has the 52-year-old actually said on his future? The MEN have taken a closer look below.

October 2021

When asked what it would take for him to leave Ajax, Ten Hag suggested an 'extraordinary offer' might do it in October.

“There’s no reason for me to think about that now,” Ten Hag told Bild.

“I am very happy at Ajax and I give everything for the club, every day. I know you can’t plan anything in football, but you have to make an exceptional and extraordinary offer if I want to change my plans.”

November 2021

Ten Hag was linked to the United job again in November and he claimed he was 'happy' at Ajax.

“I live in the present, so I find it hard to answer this,” Ten Hag told ESPN.

“I always want to improve my team, and as long as I feel this motivation I want to keep going, if Ajax wants that too.

“I am happy at Ajax. I can work there in a good way. The conditions and the climate are good. Good management and very nice staff,
