What Cristiano Ronaldo told Manchester United target Arnaut Danjuma in dressing room

Manchester United target Arnaut Danjuma has revealed an exchange he had with Cristiano Ronaldo when Villarreal visited Old Trafford in the Champions League last season.

After a stellar season in Spain, the former Bournemouth man has been on the radar of several European giants. He netted 16 goals last season, six of which came in the Champions League as his club reached the semi-finals.

The 25-year-old managed to bag an assist against United at Old Trafford in September's 2-1 loss, with Ronaldo firing home in stoppage time to claim the win for the hosts. The win for United was their first in last season's Champions League, though they failed to progress past the first knockout round despite finishing top of their group.

Meanwhile, Danjuma scored goals against Juventus and Bayern Munich as Villarreal reached the last four. MEN Sport revealed in May that United were keeping tabs on the winger.

Danjuma recently spoke on the Freshly Grounded YouTube channel about playing at Old Trafford and his exchange with boyhood role model Ronaldo during September’s clash. When asked about his favourite shirt swap, he said: “There are loads but Cristiano Ronaldo is a childhood dream, he’s always been a hero of mine.

“In the dressing room in Old Trafford (we swapped shirts) and that’s when I got a little chat with him as well.

“He looked to me and said ‘very good game, man, keep going’. It’s just stuff like that, the small things that make a big impact.”
