'What are we doing?' - Manchester United fans furious as Tottenham close in on Yves Bissouma

A number of Manchester United supporters believe the club have missed an opportunity to strengthen their midfield options by not turning to Brighton ace Yves Bissouma.

According to a report by The Times, Tottenham Hotspur have struck a £25million agreement with Brighton to sign the Mali international on a five-year deal. He is scheduled to undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of completing the move.

Should all go according to plan, he will become Spurs' third signing of the summer, following on from the arrivals of experienced Croatia international Ivan Perisic and former Southampton and Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster. There is also a growing feeling that Middlesbrough wing-back Djed Spence will soon take their tally of summer recruits up to four.

United, meanwhile, are yet to complete their first signing of the summer, despite being in desperate need of several new additions. New manager Erik ten Hag is understood to be keen to bolster several areas, including central midfield.

United have identified Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong as their first-choice target, but he would not solve their defensive midfield issues. The club is crying out for a world-class holding midfielder and nothing is believed to be in the pipeline to bring one to Old Trafford as things stand.

Numerous names, such as Boubacar Kamara - who has already joined Aston Villa this summer - and West Ham United ace Declan Rice, have been linked with moves to Old Trafford. However, news that Spurs are on the cusp of signing Bissouma has only added a further feeling of frustration to United's fanbase.
