Wexford boss James Keddy makes surprise exit

Wexford FC manager James Keddy has departed the role after an impressive season in which they qualified for the First Division play-offs and FAI Cup semi-finals.

It was the second time they have reached the play-offs under Keddy, losing to Athlone Town 1-0 on aggregate.

The club did not state the reason behind the exit.

A Wexford statement read: "We wish to give our thanks to James for his two successful seasons which resulted in two play off finishes, as well as a successful FAI Cup run to the semi-final this year.

"We are very grateful for his hard work in the project at Wexford FC and we were delighted to financially support James and his team in building our profile to get us where we are.

"We look ahead to our 2025 campaign and will begin the process of appointing a new manager immediately.

"We also wish to take this opportunity to thank our fans and players for their support over a fantastic year, and hope to bring news of our next season's management soon."

Fellow First Division side Dundalk will appoint a new manager today with former Athlone Town women's boss Ciaran Kilduff expected to take the job.

The second tier is likely to be more competitive for the automatic promotion race next season with the Lilywhites likely to have a points deduction if they enter the Small Companies Administrative Rescue Process (SCARP) due to debt of over €1m.
