West Indies claim series victory over Ireland

A near-century from Gaby Lewis was ultimately not enough for Ireland as they suffered a six-wicket defeat to the West Indies in their women's ODI in Saint Lucia.

Lewis’s effort of 95 not out was the standout of Ireland’s session at the crease, with Ava Canning contributing 20 at the tail end to help the visitors set a target of 204 for victory.

Ireland then received a boost when Orla Prendergast claimed the early scalp of West Indies captain Hayley Matthews.

But wickets became few and far between once Stafanie Taylor came to the crease, with her stand of 79 not out propelling the hosts towards the finish line.

A 53-run effort from Chinelle Henry gave the West Indies the final boost they needed to clinch the win with eight overs to spare.

The result saw the hosts wrap up the three-match series 2-0.
