West Ham: 'Very uncertain' future for 29 y/o at London Stadium

Alphonso Areola’s current situation at West Ham is “uncertain”, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £8.1m-rated goalkeeper is on loan at the Hammers from PSG, but it remains unclear as to where the Frenchman will be playing his football next season.

Despite Areola making just the solitary Premier League appearance this term, West Ham have an option to sign the stopper this summer.

Areola might have been overlooked in the league last season, but he has still played 14 times for Moyes’ men and started both legs of the Europa League last 16 tie against Sevilla, making a crucial save to deny Youssef En-Nesyri from point-blank range in the first half.

Therefore, Areola should be confident of keeping his place in the side for the quarter final matches against Lyon, even though he’s the club’s number two behind Lukasz Fabianski.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “At this point, they can extend his deal, they can sign him permanently, but it’s all very uncertain at the moment.”
