West Ham transfer news: Talks scheduled as Moyes turns to in-demand Watford ace Dennis

West Ham United boss David Moyes is reportedly set to make a move for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have enjoyed another excellent campaign under the Scot and will play European football again next term. It remains to be seen whether it is in the Europa League or Europa Conference League. Currently sitting in seventh, they would need to beat Brighton on Sunday and hope Manchester United lose to Crystal Palace to finish six.

That would given them a place in the Europa League, having reached the semi-finals of the second-tier competition this season. Whatever happens on Sunday, Moyes will be given funds to strengthen and is targeting a striker.

Michail Antonio continues to shine up front for the East End outfit but his production has tailed off dramatically in the past few months. And, according to The Mirror, Dennis is the man they want to bolster their striking ranks.

The Nigeria international joined the Hornets for £3m from Club Brugge last summer. He has bagged 10 Premier League goals for the Vicarage Road side.

However, it was not enough to keep them in the top flight, with relegation to the Championship now confirmed. Even the arrival of veteran manager Roy Hodgson could do nothing to turn things around.

They have taken only 23 points from 37 games and sit 19th in the standings. Dennis has been their main goal threat but the Hertfordshire outfit have conceded 75 goals.

That statistic was always likely to see them drop down a division and it is inevitable that a few players will be jettisoned.

Dennis still has four years of his deal left with Watford and so they hold all the aces in negotiations over his exit. And it is thought the African ace will cost between £20-30m.
