West Ham's Declan Rice calls out Lyon for pre-match tweet
West Ham are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League after an incredible 3-0 victory away to Lyon on Thursday night.
West Ham went into the tie as slight underdogs following a 1-1 draw in east London last week.
The first leg was a controversial one with Aaron Cresswell being sent off in the first half for bringing down Moussa Dembele. Many believed it was a harsh dismissal – and it wasn’t helped by Dembele’s Cristiano Ronaldo-esque wink afterwards.
But David Moyes’ side didn’t miss the suspended Creswell in France as three quickfire goals saw them reach the last four in style.
First, defender Craig Dawson put West Ham ahead on the night in the 38th-minute. Six minutes later, it was 2-0 through Declan Rice. Minutes after half time, the tie was over as Jarrod Bowen made it 3-0.
What a result.
The victory was particularly sweet following what had happened in the first leg and West Ham immediately tweeted a video of Dembele’s wink followed by Rice appearing.
