West Brom handed six-figure financial boost due to Valerien Ismael development

Valerien Ismael’s Besiktas appointment is set to save West Bromwich Albion a six-figure sum in compensation, according to the Express & Star.

The Frenchman was sacked by Albion at the start of February and less than two months later has taken charge of the Turkish club, with former Baggies coach Adam Murray joining as his assistant.

That quick turnaround is good news for The Hawthorns outfit, however, as the Express & Star has reported that it means they will have to pay Ismael significantly less in compensation.

The 46-year-old was sacked just eight months into a four-year contract but it is understood that as the deal included a break clause, Albion don’t have to pay him for the full four years following his departure.

The report claims that with Ismael placed on gardening leave, the club were still paying him a monthly salary but his Besiktas appointment has brought an end to that, which it is thought has saved them a six-figure sum.

The Verdict

Supporters will love to hear that Ismael’s new job is going to save the West Midlands club a six-figure sum.

They’ll no doubt be hoping that money can be put to good use in the upcoming transfer window.

There was a lot of excitement surrounding the French coach when he moved to The Hawthorns last summer, having taken Barnsley to the play-offs in the previous campaign, but things went sour fairly quickly and Albion pulled the plug after just eight months in charge.

It seems through some smart business strategy and luck, that is not going to prove too costly for the Baggies.
