"Weighing up his future" - Transfer insider now drops Chelsea claim on £76.5m-rated star

Chelsea being in London could be a draw for Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling as he weighs up his future, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

It is believed that the England international could become a target for the Blues this summer, though Jones thinks his preference would be a team abroad.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea could consider making a move for Sterling in the upcoming transfer window.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is set to be backed by the club’s new owners, with the same outlet stating that Todd Boehly is ready to hand the German a war chest of £200m.

While £76.5m-rated Sterling could be a very attainable target this summer after entering the final year of his City contract, defence will no doubt remain Tuchel’s priority.

With Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen deciding it is time for something new, the Chelsea boss must now find replacements for the duo.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Sterling is currently considering his options, and while the transfer insider believes Chelsea could appeal to the 27-year-old, he can see him opting for a move to another country.

Speaking to GMS, Jones said: “Obviously being back in London, you can say that’s one positive. Raheem Sterling’s currently away and he’s seriously weighing up his future.

“There’s a small possibility he signs a new contract with Manchester City but, ultimately, I think if he looks for a new challenge, then it’s overseas.”

Tuchel has made it clear that he has not been happy with the numbers his forward players have been producing, highlighting it as one reason for why Chelsea fell so far behind City and Liverpool in the season that has just gone.
