We will follow in the Binders' footsteps: Robert brothers ready to become SA's next racing duo

When it comes to racing talents, South Africa has no shortage. And usually, when the topic comes up in a discussion, talk will, almost naturally, gravitate towards the Binder brothers: Brad and Darryn.

However, we might have to add two more names to the discussion. Cayden and Blake Robert look to become the next brother duo from South Africa to make it to MotoGP.

In an exclusive interview with News24, the Robert siblings had high praise for the Binder brothers, admitting that the two international stars were their inspiration and that sharing the track with them fed the desire to race in MotoGP even more.

"We have been very lucky to spend time with Brad and Darryn, and even share the track with them a few times," Cayden (15) says.

"Seeing how far they have come and what they have achieved is inspiring. It makes me think that my dream of racing overseas is possible."

The Robert siblings are signed to the King Price Xtreme racing team.

Willing to pack it up

Of course, racing in South Africa on its own is not enough to make it to MotoGP. For the dream to become a reality, the Robert brothers have realised that the opportunities are abroad - more notably in Europe.

Brad and Darryn left South Africa at a young age, chasing the dream with their parents' support. But while Cayden realises the sacrifice that may be coming with the dream, the younger Blake seems eager to up and leave at a moment's notice.

"I love racing, and it's every racer's dream to make it to MotoGP one day. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make my dreams come true," the 9-year-old said.
