We simulated Manchester United vs Fulham to get a score prediction for Premier League opener

Manchester United begin their Premier League this evening, as they take on Fulham at Old Trafford in the 2024/25 curtain raiser.

United have had a busy summer, with the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee followed up with the captures of Bayern Munich defensive duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in recent days, as Erik ten Hag's side look to improve on their 8th place league finish in the previous campaign. Unfortunately, Yoro has joined the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Hojlund and Luke Shaw on the injury table, so new signings Mazraoui and De Ligt may get their debut earlier than expected against the Cottagers.

So, can United start their Premier League campaign with a win? Let's take a look.

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions, however as we're still using EA FC 24, the kits and squad numbers may not be accurate.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo, Mount; Amad, Fernandes, Garnacho.

We predict that Fulham could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Leno; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Reed, Lukic; Traore, Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz.

It was a cagey first half in this simulation, with United the side in control of the game for the most part, although the pace of Traore was causing Dalot a few issues on the counterattack. Despite a few pot shots at goal, there were few chances in the opening 45 minutes.
