We 'appointed' Erik ten Hag as Man United manager in 2022 and this is what happened

Manchester United have made Ajax boss Erik ten Hag their primary choice to become the new manager at Old Trafford next season.

After the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in November, Ralf Rangnick was made the interim manager at United until the summer, with the German set to move into a consultancy role at the end of his tenure in the dugout. With this in mind, United are trying to lock down their new manager before the end of the season, and Ajax coach Ten Hag has emerged as the favourite.

Manchester Evening News understands that Ten Hag is United's favoured choice to take the reigns at Old Trafford next season, but as of now, there is no final decision. The likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Brendan Rodgers and Julen Lopetegui have also been linked with the role, but no offers have been made yet.

Ten Hag's reputation has grown over the last few years, with the Dutch coach having implemented an exciting style of football in Holland. Even after some major departures in recent years, the 52-year-old has still managed to guide Ajax to back-to-back league titles in the previous two seasons.
