WATCH | Springbok skipper Kolisi sends well-wishes to those affected by Cape Town storm

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, who is set to line-up against Ireland at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday, has expressed his heartfelt sympathy and support for the people of Cape Town following a devastating storm that is wreaking havoc across the Western Cape.

The severe weather has left at least 15 000 people displaced and damaged around 14 000 structures, according to News24.

The storm, which brought heavy rain and gale-force winds, caused extensive damage on Thursday, ripping roofs off homes and destroying thousands of makeshift dwellings. One fatality had since been reported.

"Hello everyone! We just want to say our thoughts are with every single person in Cape Town," Kolisi said in a recorded video footage via The Athlete.

"We are thinking of you, that you are not too affected and that everybody can be safe.

"Obviously, those who can help, it's obviously time to stand together and help each other and those who can't, even if it is with your time, if it's your resources, please help where you can. So many families have been affected and we are just thinking of you.

"We're here playing in Durban, there is not much we can do other than hope everything settles down. So, let's help each other, let's stand together and let's unite, let's fight this together and let's help those who can't."

Amid this turmoil, the Boks are preparing for the second and final Test against Ireland.

The match is scheduled to take place at 17:00 and the Springboks are looking to build on their hard-fought 27-20 victory in the first Test at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria last week.
