Proteas opener Tazmin Brits admits Friday was just her day as she produced a match-winning performance to take the Proteas to a historic World Cup final.

Following her seventh T20 half-century, Brits took four catches in South Africa's six-run victory over England in the Women's T20 World Cup semi-final at Newlands.

Defending 164 in front of a roaring crowd of 7 547, Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley's 50 partnership took only 28 balls as everything seemed in favour of England.

While Brits' first catch was steady to remove Dunkley (28), two balls later Brits took a screamer in an explosive Shabnim Ismail over. 

Brits dived to take a one-handed catch, sending Alice Capsey back to the hutch for a duck.

"I don't know what happened there. My legs are so tired after the batting," joked Brits in the press conference after SA's win.

"I just reacted and it stuck. And once they started moving me, everywhere, the ball kept following me.

"At a stage, they actually said we should maybe throw you the ball to bowl, and I don't bowl at all so yeah... I don't know... the catches came and they stuck. Today was my day and I'm glad I could take it."

Brits also starred with the bat as she brought up her second consecutive half-century off just 43 balls.
