His father, also called Barry, shared a video of the goal on his social media, and the mad scenes that followed as he watched his son's "worldie" on TV.

Baggley scored the opening goal in Saturday's game against Bolton but it was the home side who came from behind to earn a 4-2 win.

Northern Ireland senior international Dion Charles scored twice in the game at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Despite the defeat, Fleetwood secured their survival in EFL League One on goal difference.

Baggley's dad said on Twitter: "What a moment, big lad scoring a worldie for @ftfc.

"What a way to finish the season for him and delighted Fleetwood staying up. Good to get him home this week for a break."

He added on Twitter: "What a day. Premiership see you soon.. no one can say we haven't deserved it. Covid pipped up few years ago but finally we got there.
