WATCH | Absolute chaos! Fans force entry into stadium for Stellies v Chiefs

The MTN8 quarter-final clash between Stellenbosch and Kaizer Chiefs was delayed by thirty minutes due to traffic congestion and fans forcing entry into the Danie Craven Stadium, including the main grandstand, on Sunday afternoon.

The match was sold out before kick-off (15:00), the Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced, with approximately 17 000 fans squeezing into the arena for the highly anticipated encounter.

Initially, the match was only pushed back by 15 minutes to allow fans arriving late not to miss kick-off as there was major traffic congestion.

Desperate fans without any matchday tickets also forced their entry into the stadium by jumping the fence, delaying the match further.

How those fans gained access is not clear as there were police and security present on the day.

Supporters then went further to get a closer look at the action and broke down fencing to get into the main grandstand at the stadium.
