The South African Football Association (SAFA) has voiced its disappointment at the disturbing scenes in what was anticipated to be a thrilling KZN derby showcasing the prowess of women's football.

SAFA, in response to the incident caught live on SABC 1, has taken swift action and obtained the match commissioner's report and is set to scrutinise the referees' report as well.

"This behavior is unacceptable and goes against the spirit of fair play that we uphold in football," SAFA said in a statement.

"Such incidents not only mar the reputation of the teams involved but also reflect poorly on the entire football community."

In light of the egregious conduct witnessed, SAFA has announced that both Royal AM and Lindelani Ladies will be summoned to a disciplinary hearing.
