'Was told' - Luke Edwards now reveals promising Allan Saint-Maximin update at Newcastle

Luke Edwards has now revealed some promising Newcastle United injury news involving Allan Saint-Maximin.

Saint-Maximin was ruled out of Saturday lunchtime’s 1-1 draw away at West Ham United with a calf problem sustained against Aston Villa, as Eddie Howe confirmed to the media.

He could have made the difference between one point and three points at the London Stadium, but on a good run, the St. James’ Park faithful will take a point against the European hopefuls and as they edge closer to safety in the Premier League.

Taking to Twitter, The Daily Telegraph journalist Edwards has now revealed that Saint-Maximin should be available for the crucial clash at the bottom of the table against Brentford next weekend, after needing to rest his calf:

“Was told last week Allan Saint Maximin should be back for the Brentford game next weekend but needed to rest a calf problem.

“Hopefully that’s still the case.”

It is certainly promising for the Toon Army to hear that Saint-Maximin should be able to face the Bees, having been left out against the Hammers.

He is their second-top scorer in the Premier League so far this season with five goals, while his three assists is more than any of his teammates (WhoScored).

Saint-Maximin also averages more shots and dribbles than any Magpies player, and so is clearly a key part of Howe’s team going forward, especially with the relegation battle ahead.
