Warriors' Draymond Green fined, not suspended; will play Friday

Warriors forward Draymond Green will rejoin the team on Thursday, coach Steve Kerr said following Golden State's preseason win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

Green has been away from the team since an altercation with teammate Jordan Poole last Wednesday.

Kerr told reporters in San Francisco on Tuesday night that Green has been fined but not suspended. He is expected to play in the team's final preseason game on Friday against the Nuggets, as well as opening night Tuesday against the Lakers.

Kerr said there have been deep discussions in the past week with key personnel in the organization, including Poole and Green.

«It's been an exhausting process,» he said. «We feel like this is the best way, after assessing everything, for us to move forward.

»This is the biggest crisis that we've ever had since I've been coach here. Really serious stuff."

Green apologized to Poole and the team before practice on Thursday, then immediately left the facilities and went home.

Then on Friday, a video was leaked that showed the incident. In the video, which was published by TMZ, Green was seen stepping up to Poole, who reacts by shoving the Warriors veteran. Green then punches Poole, knocking him down, before several people at the practice intervene to break it up. There was no video showing what led up to the incident.

The video prompted Green and the Warriors to mutually agree he should spend more time away from the team. He offered a public apology Saturday and announced he would step away from the team indefinitely.
