Warning for drivers ahead of massive M60 motorway resurfacing lasting two months

A busy stretch of the M60 motorway between two junctions will be resurfaced in a scheme lasting around two months, it was revealed today.

The work will take place between junctions seven and eight - between Sale, Altrincham and Carrington including Stretford - in both directions.

National Highways said the resurfacing was 'essential'. Road markings and road studs will be replaced along the section.

"Additional overnight full closures may be put in place if necessary to complete the resurfacing on time," said National Highways. "The scheme is expected to finish in July."

During the overnight lane closures, traffic will be able to flow using the distribution road parallel to the M60.

"If full road closures are required, a fully-signed diversion will be in place, which has been agreed in advance with the police and local authority," added bosses.

National Highways described the work as 'essential resurfacing' that would result in 'smoother, safer journeys'. Bosses said: "National Highways is resurfacing the M60 between junctions 7 and 8 in both directions. Road markings and road studs are also being renewed on the stretch of road.
