Walsall closing in on managerial appointment of 41-year-old
Walsall are set to appoint former Newport County manager Michael Flynn as the successor to Matthew Taylor as the head coach of the Saddlers, according to the Express & Star’s Joe Edwards.
The 41-year-old, who resigned from his role at the Exiles back in October, will take over from Taylor after he was sacked last week following a seven-match losing run, which saw the Midlands club plummet to 21st in League Two.
Flynn spent four-and-a-half years as Newport’s manager between 2017 and 2021, leading them to two fourth tier play-off finals in the process.
