Wallabies looking to dominate England in the set-piece, says prop Bell

Australia prop Angus Bell said they must improve their set-piece against England in the second test in Brisbane on Saturday after failing to dominate the visitors in the series opener in Perth.

The Wallabies won the opening match of the three-test series 30-28 at the weekend despite being reduced to 14 men following lock Darcy Swain's first-half sending off.

But Bell said the hosts can make further improvements in their forward play to ensure they take charge against Eddie Jones' side in Queensland.

"It's about our team execution," Bell told reporters on Tuesday. "I was pretty unhappy with our set-piece. Could be better.

"We're not here to be even with England, we're here to dominate them.

"We didn't quite get that right in areas, through things like the red card. It didn't help and we had players in different positions, but we're going to bring it up another step in intensity in the set-piece and we need to be better."

The victory over England on Saturday was Australia's first in nine games and while there was room for improvement Bell was delighted with the result.

"It was a pretty awesome win," he said. "We came in with a plan and in some areas we didn't execute it. Training this week has been really hard and we just need to keep working on the areas we didn't get right.

"But overall you can always be pretty happy and content with beating England in a first test of a series."
