Wales team announcement live: Gatland to rip up side for final match
Warren Gatland will name his Wales side to take on Queensland Reds in the final match of the summer tour (KO Friday, 10.55am).
The announcement is expected around midnight, with Regan Grace due to make his competitive rugby union debut by being named in the matchday squad.
Several other changes are mooted, with Gatland planning to use his full squad and give valuable game time to those who have barely featured so far on tour. Players who missed out on the Test series against the Wallabies but are now set to be involved include backs Eddie James, Jacob Beetham and Gareth Davies, as well as front rows Corey Domachoswki, Dillon Lewis and Efan Daniel and locks Ben Carter and Matthew Screech.
Of course, playing a club side like the Reds is an obvious opportunity to give minutes to players who need them, but with an ever-growing monkey on their back, a much-changed side could be somewhat of a gamble for Gatland. The Reds are no pushover, with many Wallabies stars playing their club rugby there and a Welsh win is certainly not a guarantee.
