Wales stars shine as Cardiff overcome slow start to inflict derby defeat on Scarlets

Cardiff overturned a 15-point deficit to claim a stunning 24-15 bonus point victory over the Scarlets in Llanelli.

Matt Sherratt's side found themselves staring into the abyss after just 15 minutes but regained their composure to run in four tries and remain unbeaten this season. The Scarlets made an electric start which caught Cardiff cold and found themselves 15-0 up in as many minutes but the visitors held the upper hand thereafter as they caused havoc at the breakdown while they ripped their hosts to shreds behind the scrum.

It took the Scarlets just 14 seconds to draw first blood. Cardiff tried to catch the Scarlets out at the kick-off when Callum Sheedy switched last minute to allow Ben Thomas to take it. The ball was taken by Tom Rogers who put boot to ball with young centre Macs Page winning the foot race to score his second try in as many games with Sam Costelow adding the extras.

Peel's side had the wind in their sails and Costelow extended the lead from the kicking tee. A wonderful piece of skill from Scarlets wing Tom Rogers in keeping the ball in play from a Sheedy kick to touch put the hosts back onto the front foot.

The Scarlets forwards were making significant metres with ball in hand and a powerful carry from Scotland lock Alex Craig put the hosts onto the front foot as they lay siege to the Cardiff line. Elusive winger Blair Murray came close but was pulled down just short of the line but after a few pick and goes a long pass from Costelow put Taine Plumtree over at the corner.

Cardiff looked shell-shocked and it was left to talented centre Thomas to breathe some life into his team mates. A half-break along with a nice offload sent Josh Mcnally through a gap before the England lock found Mason Grady. The
