Wales squad announcement Live: Warren Gatland names his Six Nations players

Warren Gatland this afternoon names his squad for the Six Nations as he bids to put an end to Wales's worst-ever losing run.

Gatland has overseen 12 Test defeats and CEO Abi Tierney admitted the New Zealander's job was "on the line" during her announcement following the big Welsh rugby review last month.

But Tierney backed the Wales head coach to turn things around this year, starting with the Six Nations. "There is a tough challenge ahead but Warren is more than up for that challenge. We also believe he is equal to it," Tierney said.

"In addition, we are also taking immediate steps to build and evolve the team behind the team in a way that makes a significant and positive impact ahead of the 2025 Championship."

Gatland and his coaches met yesterday for the last time before the announcement, finalising the list of players tasked with producing a far more successful campaign this time around compared to 12 months ago. There are a number of positions up for grabs, while Gatland and his coaching staff have to contend with injures, too.

Cardiff had Taulupe Faletau and Corey Domachowski drop out of contention with knocks earlier in the week, before losing Regan Grace to a head injury during their defeat in Perpignan. Hopefully, those injuries are not too serious.

There's also some concern at fly-half, with Gareth Anscombe currently dealing with a knee issue and Sam Costelow forced off on Friday night with a shoulder problem.
