Wales hold live Rugby World Cup press conference 48 hours before announcing team for Fiji

Wales will issue an update from camp on Wednesday as preparations for the opening game of the World Cup ramp up.

Warren Gatland reported a clean bill of health among his World Cup squad on Tuesday, heading into the crunch tournament opener against Fiji.

Co-captain Dewi Lake and number eight Taulupe Faletcau, Ryan Elias, Dafydd Jenkins and Gareth Anscombe have also recovered from injury for Sunday's Pool C clash in Bordeaux.

The same cannot be said in the opposition camp. On Wednesday morning, Fiji fly-half Caleb Muntz was ruled out of the Rugby World Cup. Fiji head coach Simon Raiwalui confirmed that their playmaker would miss the tournament after sustaining a knee injury during the team’s training run on Monday.

Meanwhile Wales have reacted to reports that games at the tournament may be stopped to deal with the current heatwave hitting Europe.

Warren Gatland is against the idea of proposed water breaks during fixtures amid soaring temperatures. World Rugby is considering allowing intervals during each half to help sides conquer the heat.

But Gatland believes Wales' punishing fitness camps in Turkey and Switzerland will stand his side in good stead in the challenging climes. Gatland told a press conference: "We like the ball on the park as much as possible. But we are not going to argue, if that’s what’s decided.”
