WAFCON: Spurs' Rosella Ayane had priceless reaction to scoring winning penalty for Morocco

Morocco have reached the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history.

After a 1-1 draw in regular time, the Atlas Lionesses won the penalty shootout against Nigeria after Rosella Ayane tucked away the deciding spot-kick.

But the forward didn’t even realise what she had done until the stadium erupted into applause and her teammates rushed over to celebrate.

The Tottenham Hotspur star converted Morocco’s fifth penalty, giving them a clean sweep in the shootout after Nigeria’s Ifeoma Onumonu missed her attempt.

But Ayane was clearly too focused on making sure she converted to keep track of the scoreline.

As she stepped up to the mark, she looked calm and composed. The 26-year-old slotted home a well-taken penalty and turned away to rejoin the line, expecting another player to approach the box after her.

But it soon hit home when the roar of the crowd filled the stadium.

In a hilarious yet wholesome video, Ayane’s thought process can be visibly seen in her facial expressions. She stops in her tracks and spins around with a look of complete surprise on her face.

She waits for a couple of seconds and checks the reaction of the crowd before it sinks in that she has just sent Morocco to their first ever WAFCON final.
