Virals: West Ham interested in Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall

West Ham are reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest central defender Joe Worrall.

The Hammers are believed to remain in the hunt for defensive reinforcements as the January transfer window enters its final few days.

Having previously been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, Dan Woffenden poured over the ace’s merits in 2020 on Twitter.

Recently linked with West Ham and I can see why. At 23, Worrall has barely hit his prime and has been fantastic for Forest this season.

He’d provide great competition and is more than capable of becoming Ogbonna’s regular CB partner. pic.twitter.com/qGHQzFHehl

Now a report from The Athletic has claimed that the Irons retain a long-standing interest in the three-cap England Under 21 starlet.

Concentrating on the east London admiration of highly-rated forward Brennan Johnson, the report also states that West Ham are keen on Worrall as David Moyes seeks cover for Angelo Ogbonna.

This season the man described as ‘outstanding’ by Steven Gerrard has earned a 7.08 average Sofascore rating from 22 Championship outings.

Valued at £3.6million and under contract at the City Ground until 2024 (Transfermarkt), a previously mooted £12million asking price would be an affordable pursuit for the Hammers.

However, outside of 21 Scottish Premiership appearances whilst on loan at Rangers, Worrall hasn’t experienced top-flight football in what is to dte a promising career.

Whilst the captures of Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma would suggest amassing an abundance of Premier League experience isn’t necessarily a must for Moyes, signing a player without would certainly be a red flag.

Perhaps a move for heavily linked
