Virals: Behind the scenes at a big Celtic talking point of the summer

There has been a lot of debate this season about the new stadium wrap that is on the outside of Celtic Park, and has replaced the old stadium wrap which featured many players who played at Celtic Park for the Hoops over the years, and also some great moments from Celtic’s history over the years.

The new stadium wrap features Billy McNeill holding aloft the European Cup, and current Hoops captain Callum McGregor holding the Premiership title that the Bhoys won last season.

After the discussion about the debate, the Hoops have released a video on the club’s official Twitter account explaining the reasoning for the new stadium wrap.

The video, which is well worth a watch, discloses that Celtic decided to change the stadium wrap design to pay tribute to Celtic’s past as well as the present day, and the wrap, if you look closely, still contains many references to Celtic’s past, when prominent numbers, and badges and strip designs featured in a mosaic.

READ CELTIC VERDICT:

It is good to see that Celtic have decided to explain why the club wanted to change the stadium wrap, which now envelops the outside of the stadium in a sea of green, which is a completely different look to how the stadium wrap used to look.

The video mentions a ‘modern, progressive’ look to the outside of the stadium, and I suppose after a few years the club felt it was time to change the look of the outside of the stadium.

But it has to be asked if the look of the new stadium wrap does celebrate the club’s history as much as the old one, as the old wrap featured a number of Celtic players and not just two, whilst there aren’t any legendary games pictured on the wrap.
