Vince McMahon: Top WWE star told ex-CEO to take time off before retirement

Vince McMahon shocked the wrestling world last week with his retirement announcing, putting an end to his 40-year reign in charge of WWE.

McMahon was at TV almost every week, and rarely took holidays during his time in WWE, something that Becky Lynch tried to get him to change.

Speaking to Adam’s Apple, Lynch spoke about how she approached McMahon to try and get him to take some time off.

The former Raw Women’s Champion asked her boss how many holidays he’d ever taken, and he said he once took time off, something that Becky said needed to change.

“I sat down with him once and asked him, ‘Hey Vince, you ever take any time off?.’ He’s like ‘Yeah, one time I took a holiday and I was lying on the beach. I couldn’t relax, I couldn’t relax. And then I came back (to work) and I said you know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna do a big event, it’s going to be like a SuperBowl, and we’re gonna call it WrestleMania. I was like, ‘Well Vince, I think you should take more holidays.’”

Becky’s claim that McMahon said he “couldn’t relax” while on holiday may be slightly worrying, as Vince is now going to have a lot of time on his hands following his retirement.

In case you missed the news, Vince will be replaced as WWE Chairman by Stephanie McMahon, who has been appointed as the company’s new Chairmwoman.

Alongside that, Stephanie will serve as the company’s co-CEO alongside Nick Khan, the latter of whom Vince brought into WWE to become President.

As for Vince’s role as Head of Creative, those responsibilities have been taken over by his son-in-law Triple H, a decision that has been received very well by fans and wrestlers alike.
