Villarreal’s Baena reports assault by Real Madrid’s Valverde
RIYADH: Villarreal’s Alex Baena has informed the police of an alleged assault, on him, by Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde following the La Liga game at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Baena said, via his Twitter account, yesterday that he had been subjected to an attack, and denied that he had insulted Valverde’s family, which he indicated as the reason for the Uruguayan’s anger.
Baena wrote: “I am very saddened by the attack I was subjected to after the match, and I am surprised by what they say that I said, it is completely false that I said that.”
The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that sources close to Valverde said that Baena annoyed the Real Madrid player during the two teams’ match in the Spanish Cup last January by talking about his unborn child.
Valverde’s friend Mina Bonino revealed, last February, that the two partners thought they had lost their child, but it turned out later that the pregnancy was good.
And Marca stated that Baena referred again to Valverde’s child during yesterday’s match, which led to that confrontation.
