Villa have confirmed preliminary designs have been created to develop their iconic stadium and home, Villa Park.

The arena currently holds 42,825 spectators, but the capacity is set to increase to over 50,000 when construction has been completed on a new North Stand and Villa released a statement earlier this month regarding plans to expand Villa Park.

It read: "Preliminary designs have been created to transform our iconic home at Villa Park including building a new North Stand, upgrading and expanding our hospitality facilities and creating an entirely new venue to bring our retail and merchandising activities, as well as other entertainment activities, into the 21st century.

"Capacity of the stadium would increase to over 50,000 upon completion of the first phase. The plans would enable more Villa fans to enjoy a newly enhanced matchday experience as well as being a catalyst for change in our community and neighbourhood."

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona.

The Ivory Coast midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and able to sign for another club on a free transfer when the current campaign ends.
