Vice Admiral AZ Gambo Golf Course will boost Kano’s economy, says PGAN

The New Vice Admiral AZ Gambo Nigerian Navy Golf Course in Kano is a project capable of boosting the city’s economy, Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of Nigeria consultants have said.

The consultants, at the weekend, visited the emerging golf course to inspect the facilities on behalf of PGA of Nigeria.

The consultants include two principal executive officers of PGA of Nigeria, Uchenna Ezebuiro, Operations Director and Segun Obamuwe, Finance Director.

Speaking after the tour of facilities, Ezebuiro commended the creativity of the project initiator, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo, saying, “this Golf Course project will go a long way to change the economy of the people of this community by taking the idle minds away from the streets.

“We have gone round to see the level of work done so far, it’s commendable – the Golf House, the Green, the irrigation system, a source of water, which is very important for a golf course are fantastic… we’ll take the message to the PGA Director, Tony Philmoore and see how we can partner together.”

Also commending the initiator of the project, Obamuwe said: “The Vice Admiral AZ Gambo Golf Course at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College (NNLC), Dawakin Tofa, Kano, will be a mega brand for international tourism on completion.

“This is the first phase of the inspection and from what we have seen so far, the contractors are doing a great job; a big green, bunkers, drainage canals, good irrigation system. In fact, we are satisfied for now.”

The features of the golf club include a clubhouse, tractor house, drinking spot, starting point and caddies shed.
