Vernon Kay told off by wife Tess Daly after awkward moment with Prime Minister
Vernon Kay has recalled an awkward moment with Tony Blair that resulted in a telling off from his wife Tess Daly.
Speaking on his BBC Radio 2 show today, the presenter said he couldn't help but make a wolf sound upon seeing the full moon, while at a dinner with the former Prime Minister.
After the show's newsreader Harvey mentioned wolves, Vernon admitted hearing the word had "sent a shiver" down his spine.
The 50-year-old went on to explain: "Back in the day, Tess and I got invited to Chequers to have dinner with the Prime Minister.
"And at Chequers, the kitchen is run by the RAF and it's amazing, fantastic wine, a great dinner, you spend time in an intimate setting with the Prime Minister.
"And this is way back when, and were were sat down with Tony and Cherie Blair, and a couple of other dignitaries."
Vernon went on to say after Tony told him to look at the "beautiful full moon" in their view, he couldn't resist making a wolf sound.
"I had had a couple I'll be honest with you," he added on his show. "And I went 'Tony, I know, I know, I [wolf howl]."
Laughing as he reflected on the moment, he added: "It brought the conversation to a grinding halt, and I got the sharpest elbow from Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly, just a complete bang."
After Harvey asked him if that was the last time he was invited to the Chequers, he confirmed: "Absolutely, that was done, me done."
Vernon previously discussed the encounter on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2020, which took his campmates by surprise.
