Vernon Kay sparks tears live on air as he issues 'sad' statement about colleague
Vernon Kay sparked tears on air as he issued a sad statement about one of his Radio 2 colleagues. The 51-year-old has presented his mid-morning radio show since taking over from Ken Bruce in 2023.
The show is Britain’s most popular radio programme with recent figures suggesting around 6.6 million people tune in each day. But Vernon recently announced that the line-up of his show is set to change.
On Thursday he revealed his videographer Chloe was set to depart the show. She is set to move across to BBC Radio One to work alongside Greg James.
Paying an emotional tribute to Chloe, Vernon said: “We should say, our videographer, our social media person, Chloe, lovely Chloe, who has been on the team for two-and-a-half years is leaving to go and work with a fella called Gregory James.

The father-of-two later confirmed that his heartfelt statement had made Chloe well up. He added: “There’s Chloe, sad times, she’s crying, she’s upset.”
Former Family Fortunes host Vernon will be returning to screens from 6.55pm on ITV One with M&S: Dress The Nation. He presents the show alongside Big Brother host AJ Odudu.
The series sees nine amateurs going head-to-head to land their dream role as a fashion designer for Marks and Spencer. The first episode will see designers thrown in at the deep end as they make
