Van Dijk: Liverpool star walked out of interview after Haaland question

Virgil van Dijk and Erling Haaland will go head-to-head on Sunday as Liverpool and Manchester City face off in a bumper Premier League clash.

The Dutchman is still yet to lose a Premier League game at Anfield, but that record will surely come under threat given the form of City and Haaland.

The Norwegian has scored a ridiculous 15 league goals in his opening nine matches.

Whilst Liverpool have struggled to keep their opponents out and have conceded three goals in each of their last two matches against Brighton and Arsenal.

Van Dijk will need to be right up for it if he wants to halt the seemingly unstoppable force - but he already knows that.

The pair first played against each other when Haaland was playing for Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

It was the second group game of the new season and Haaland started the game on the bench for the encounter.

But after being subbed on in the second half, he wreaked havoc on the Liverpool defence and nabbed himself a goal for good measure.

The game ended 4-3 to the Reds but Haaland left a major impression on all that witnessed him that day.

Speaking on the Blood Red podcast, Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft spoke of how impressive Haaland was.

"The first time I saw him [Haaland] live was at Anfield when he came on and I was amazed that this young kid created so much space," Fjortoft said.

"He scored one goal, but he could have had three or four - he was unbelievable. I was amazed how he created space and how I define that is how his runs are wise and experienced."
