Valencia 1-4 Barcelona: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's hat-trick goal was so lucky
Barcelona got back to winning ways on Sunday against Valencia.
Xavi Hernandez’s side were left frustrated on Thursday evening after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie.
Barcelona were the better team on the night, however, they were unable to make their dominance at Camp Nou count – January signing Ferran Torres missing a number of easy chances.
But the team certainly took their opportunities at the Mestalla, with former Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting a hat-trick in a thumping 4-1 win.
Frenkie de Jong was the man who grabbed the other goal for the Blaugrana and for a while, one of his midfield colleagues was on the scoresheet as well in the form of Pedri.
Now, you’re probably thinking; what’re you guys talking about, it was 4-1 not 5-1?! Well, allow us to explain.
Barcelona’s fourth goal against Valencia has now gone down as being scored by Aubameyang, but it first looked as if it was simply a stunning long-range strike from Pedri.
The Spain international took aim from around 30 yards out and his shot flew into the back of the net.
But because it took a slight deflection off Aubameyang – who was trying to get out of the way – the striker has been controversially awarded the goal.
