Urgent recall for Patak's jars sold in Waitrose and Sainsbury's

The Food Standards Agency has publicised an urgent recall notice over jars of Patak's aubergine pickle, saying they 'may contain pieces of glass'.

The jars concerned have only been sold in Waitrose and Sainsbury's stores, the FSA said.

The agency said on its website: "AB World Foods is recalling Patak's Aubergine Pickle because it may contain pieces of glass. The possible presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat. The affected product has only been sold in Waitrose and Sainsbury's."

The affected batch code is 3172 and the pack size 312g. The jars concerned have best before dates of June 2026.

The FSA added: "This product may contain pieces of glass which makes it unsafe to eat. AB World Foods is recalling the above product. The company has issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

"Patak's is taking the precautionary step of recalling a limited number of 312g jars of aubergine pickle sold in some Waitrose and Sainsbury's stores in the UK. The decision has been taken out of an abundance of caution and is linked to the very low risk of a possible presence of glass."

No other products have been affected.

The alert went on: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information contact AB World Foods customer care team on 0800 0195 617 or consumer.services@abworldfoods.com.
