Update emerges regarding Ipswich Town-linked player as EFL club reveal transfer stance

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has revealed that the club have to receive any contact from Ipswich Town regarding a potential move for Jack Taylor.

A report from the East Anglian Daily Times earlier this month suggested that the Blues were showing interest in the Posh midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.

Signed by Peterborough for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £500,000 in January 2020, Taylor went on to help the club secure promotion to the Championship during the following campaign by providing seven direct goal contributions in 46 league appearances.

The midfielder was unable to make a lasting impact in the second-tier last season as Peterborough suffered relegation to League One.

Ipswich will be looking to become legitimate contenders for a top-two finish in the 2022/23 campaign by making a positive start to this particular term.

Whereas manager Kieran McKenna will be looking to strengthen his team this summer, a potential move for Taylor now looks incredibly unlikely.

Making reference to the midfielder, Fry has admitted that the club are not looking to sell Taylor unless they receive an offer in the region of £10m.

Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Fry said: “I’ve had no contact from Ipswich for any of our players, in fact I’ve had no contact from any club about anyone.

“It’s far too early in the summer for that.

“There are still games going on.

“I will say we have no interest in selling Jack Taylor.

“If someone offered £10m we might, but that’s not going to happen.

“We are looking to recruit a couple of midfielders so I doubt we will let anyone go from that position.”

The Verdict

Given that Taylor is no longer a viable option for Ipswich, it will be interesting
