Update emerges on Cardiff City’s transfer pursuit of 27-year-old

Championship outfit Cardiff City will continue to monitor The New Saints forward Declan McManus ahead of the summer transfer window, as per a fresh update from Wales Online.

The 27-year-old has been in fine fettle in the Welsh top division this term, recording 21 goals in 22 league matches this term but his impact hasn’t just been limited to his home nation with his side also previously competing for a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

He certainly played his part in the Welsh side’s efforts to make the competition, managing to get himself on the scoresheet six times in six appearances before their exit from the third round of the qualifying phase.

His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, with Football League World reporting last month that the Glasgow-born forward was the subject of interest from the Bluebirds and other sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

Steve Morison’s men are in desperate need of recruiting in the forward area in the summer with Kieffer Moore leaving the club for AFC Bournemouth in January, leaving a void up top after proving to be such a key asset in the Welsh capital last term.

Jordan Hugill and Uche Ikpeazu both arrived on loan in January and have helped to fill that void – but are both due to return to their respective loan sides at the end of the campaign.

With that, the second-tier outfit are expected to continue monitoring McManus and they may decide to keep scouting him when the summer comes along, according to this latest report from Wales Online.
