Up and down round sees McIlroy slip back at St Jude

Rory McIlroy got it around in under par on Moving Day at the FedEx St Jude Classic but a closing bogey - one of four in his round - left him just about on the fringes of contention heading into the final round at TPC Southwind.

McIlroy's round of 68 contained only eight pars with six birdies just about making up for his string of dropped shots.

He went to the turn in 34 strokes, one-under-par on the day, but coughed up another shot on the 10th before a run of three straight birdies from the 15th had him right back in the mix.

However, that final-hole bogey - after blocking his tee shot into the trees on the right - left him five shots off the lead of American Lucas Gover.

Another American, Taylor Moore, fired a 65 to get to -13, one off the lead, while England's Tommy Fleetwood took route 66 to an overall total of 12-under-par heading into Sunday.
