United Rugby Championship: Scotland international Luke Crosbie inks new Edinburgh deal

Scotland international Luke Crosbie has committed his future to Edinburgh after signing a new long-term contract with the club ahead of his return from injury.

The 24-year-old back-row made his Test debut in 2021 after being named as the United Rugby Championship outfit’s player of the season earlier that year.

He has been sidelined with a lower leg injury since January but is set to make his comeback when Edinburgh host Bath in their Challenge Cup round-of-16 match at the DAM Health Stadium on Saturday.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have re-signed with Edinburgh and I’m really looking forward to the future with this club,” said Crosbie, who has already played in 65 matches for the Scottish capital club.

“I’m really excited and I know my family are too. Re-signing means a lot to me, having come through Currie RFC while supporting Edinburgh as a young lad.

“My family still come down and support me every week – and they all wear the Edinburgh kit – so they’ll be really chuffed that they can continue to follow my journey with the club.

“It was obviously frustrating to be injured earlier this season but that’s the sport we play and it’s brilliant to be back involved now.

“It’s a really important part of the season with big games coming up and I’m looking forward to getting back out there and playing with my team-mates.”

Edinburgh head coach Mike Blair is delighted to retain Crosbie’s services.

“Luke was one of our most consistent performers to start the season, so to have him back fit with the squad – while extending terms with the club – is absolutely huge for us. We’re excited to see him back involved for the business end of the campaign,” he said.

“He’s a local guy that takes huge pride in representing the club every time
